Terms of Service

These Terms are an agreement between you and Jonathan Contreras ("we," "us") about your use of the Lanyard app. Please read them. By using Lanyard, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What Lanyard is

Lanyard is a networking-memory app that helps you remember people you meet, organized by the event where you met them, and share your own contact card. It stores your information on your own device.

2. Your license to use Lanyard

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Lanyard on devices you own or control, for your own personal or business networking. You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract our source code, except where the law expressly allows it.

3. No account required

You can use Lanyard without creating an account. If we add optional accounts in the future, additional terms may apply and we'll make them available at that time.

4. Your responsibilities — especially about other people's information

Lanyard lets you store information about other people (their names, phone numbers, emails, and your notes about them). You are responsible for this. Specifically, you agree that:

• You will only add and keep other people's information where you have a legitimate reason to do so (for example, they gave you their card or details).
• You will handle that information respectfully and in line with any applicable privacy laws.
• You will not use Lanyard to store or share information unlawfully, to harass anyone, or in a way that violates someone else's rights.
• The notes and data you enter are yours and your responsibility; we don't monitor or moderate them (and we can't — they're on your device).

5. Your data is yours

The people, events, notes, and card details you create in Lanyard belong to you. We don't claim ownership of them. Because they're stored on your device, you are also responsible for backing them up if you wish; deleting the app deletes its data.

6. Our intellectual property

Lanyard — its name, design, logos, and software — belongs to us and is protected by law. These Terms don't give you any rights to our brand or software beyond the license in Section 2.

7. Purchases and subscriptions

Lanyard's core features are free. We may offer optional paid features or subscriptions. If you buy one:

• Payment is handled by the app store you downloaded Lanyard from (Apple App Store or Google Play), under their terms, not directly by us.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and you cancel through your app store account settings.
• Refunds are handled by the app store according to its policies.

We'll always clearly show the price and what's included before you buy.

8. Third-party services

Lanyard works alongside features of your device and other apps you choose to use — your camera, your contacts, your calendar, your messaging and email apps, and the app store. Your use of those is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, not ours.

9. The app is provided "as is"

We work to make Lanyard useful and reliable, but we provide it "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't guarantee the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will meet every need. You use it at your own discretion and risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jonathan Contreras will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Lanyard. Because Lanyard stores data on your device, we are not responsible for data you lose by deleting the app, losing your device, or failing to back it up.

11. Ending these Terms

You can stop using Lanyard at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end your license if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (like Sections 4, 6, 9, 10, and 12) will continue to apply.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local consumer-protection laws give you rights that can't be waived.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Lanyard evolves. If we make a significant change, we'll update this page and the effective date, and surface it in the app. Continuing to use Lanyard after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
