Privacy Policy

Lanyard is a networking-memory app that helps you remember the people you meet and where you met them. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you use Lanyard.

The short version

• Your data stays on your phone. The people you save, your notes, your own card — all of it is stored locally on your device. We don't have a copy.
• We do not sell your data. Ever. We also don't rent, trade, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
• We ask for the minimum. We only request a permission (camera, contacts, calendar, notifications) at the moment you use the feature that needs it, and the information stays on your device.
• You're in control. You can delete any person, event, or meeting inside the app, and deleting the app removes everything.

Who we are

What information Lanyard handles, and where it lives

Everything below is stored locally on your device. It is not uploaded to us or to any server we control.

• People you add. Names, phone numbers, email addresses, companies, roles, notes, photos you attach, and the event where you met them. Some of this is information about other people, and you're responsible for handling it respectfully and lawfully (see our Terms of Service).
• Your events. The networking events you create and their details.
• Your own card. The profile and contact details you choose to put on your shareable card (your "My Card").
• Meeting requests. Meeting details you create and their status.

We do not collect your location, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not build an advertising profile of you.

Device permissions we may ask for

We request each of these only when you use the feature it powers, and the data stays on your device:

• Camera — to scan a contact's QR code so you can add them without typing.
• Contacts — to let you import a person you pick from your address book, or save a person from Lanyard back into your address book. We only touch the specific contact you choose; we do not read your whole address book in the background.
• Calendar — to add a meeting you choose to your own calendar.
• Notifications — to remind you about follow-ups and meetings.

You can change or revoke any of these in your phone's Settings at any time. Revoking a permission just disables the related feature.

How your card and contact files are shared

When you share your card — as a QR code, a link, or a contact file — you are choosing to send your own information to someone else. That sharing happens directly from your device through whatever channel you pick. We are not in the middle of that exchange and we do not receive a copy.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
• We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not upload the people you save to any server.
• We do not require you to create an account to use Lanyard.

Children's privacy

Lanyard is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and rights

Because your data lives on your device, you control it directly:

• Delete individual items (a person, event, or meeting) inside the app.
• Delete everything by deleting the app from your phone.
• Turn off any permission in your phone's Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California). Since we do not collect or sell your personal information, many of these rights are satisfied by the on-device controls above. Data security

Your information is protected by your device's built-in security (such as your passcode, Face ID / Touch ID, and the operating system's app sandboxing). Keeping your device and its software up to date is the best way to protect your Lanyard data.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and change the effective date. Significant changes will be surfaced in the app.
